After Fierce Sha Tin Battles, Britney Wong and Dylan Mo Still Await First Win of the Season

Following the conclusion of yesterday’s (October 25) Sha Tin race meeting, the 2026/27 racing season has been underway for over a month. While most jockeys have already secured their first victories, the latest Hong Kong Jockey Club data indicates that two local riders are still striving to “open their accounts” this season: apprentice jockey Britney Wong and homegrown jockey Dylan Mo.

The Hong Kong racing circuit is notoriously competitive, making it extremely difficult to secure quality rides. The 33-year-old Dylan Mo possesses extensive riding experience, having accumulated 119 career wins in Hong Kong. However, despite taking over 30 rides this season and securing several second and third-place finishes, a victory has eluded him. Facing this current winless streak, Mo must persevere and rely on his decade of experience in hopes of quickly garnering support from trainers and owners to break the deadlock.

Meanwhile, apprentice jockey Britney Wong’s situation is an even greater test of perseverance. During a Sha Tin race meeting last season (November 2025), her mount reared in the starting gates and fell backward, resulting in a fractured right tibia that forced a lengthy period of rehabilitation. Although she recovered and was cleared to resume trackwork in February of this year, the severe injury and long absence inevitably impacted her race fitness and the level of riding support she receives. Following yesterday’s races, she remains winless this season. Prior to her injury, Wong had accumulated 31 wins in Hong Kong, demonstrating notable potential and fighting spirit. Given time to rebuild her relationships with connections, she is undoubtedly capable of delivering strong results once again.

The racing season is long, and temporary setbacks do not define an entire campaign. Both the experienced Dylan Mo and the returning Britney Wong have demonstrated resilient sportsmanship. In the upcoming fixtures, they will undoubtedly continue to give their all, and racing fans eagerly anticipate the day they secure their first wins of the season and return to the winner’s circle.
